With the two companies Stelco and Dofasco, 60% of the total steel in Canada was produced here, making Hamilton the Steel Capital of Canada. Hamilton students receive largely supported by the Government from the kindergartens until they complete their high school diplomas. Regarding post-secondary institutions, the city is well-known for creating many direct and indirect jobs in education and research. There are some colleges and universities that students can choose to study:  McMaster University, McMaster Divinity College, Mohawk College or Redeemer University College.
